Welcome to our home page.

The Iris Trust is committed to helping women who suffer from the effects of domestic violence by providing meditation/relaxation courses.

The courses are based on mindfulness meditation techniques.

What is mindfulness?

“Being present in the moment with acceptance is more than just a practice – it is a key research-proven strategy that promotes health in the body, in the mind and in our relationships with one another. Now is the time ... to step into a new way of being that can reduce anxiety, stress, and fear, and enhance joy, gratitude and well-being in everyday life”. Daniel J. Siegel, Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and author of “Mindsight”

Statistics on domestic violence in the UK show:
• One in four women is at some point in their lifetime affected by domestic violence
• On average two women get killed every week by a current or former partner
• Around 10 women a week commit suicide because of domestic abuse

The Iris Trust is committed to helping women to overcome the suffering they have endured as a result of domestic violence and abuse.
