The Iris Trust Courses

Our Relaxation/Meditation courses are run by facilitators who have qualifications and/or extensive experience in the Mindfulness and Meditation techniques.

Courses consist of 90 minute sessions, one per week over a period of 6 weeks.

Mindfulness techniques allow us to observe how we create our own distress and show us how to let go of mental habits that create pain and suffering and replace them with useful ones.

In recent years more and more research into both ancient and modern mindfulness practices has shown that they have the potential to be helpful in addressing a great variety of psychological suffering - from excessive worrying and being unhappy and dissatisfied with one’s life to more serious conditions like anxiety, depression or substance abuse. They are also seen to be of benefit for enhancing relationships, be it romantic, parenting or interpersonal ones.

Our courses are flexible and tailored to the needs of the women. They consist of three parts starting with a discussion time which is always popular. It is followed by a meditation focusing on the body and a consecutive meditation that varies from week to week. The courses are suitable for women of all religious and cultural backgrounds.

The courses we have conducted to date have been very well received. The women report that they feel they can express themselves in more positive ways, being able to sleep better as well as improved tolerance and more patience with their children. Some women felt their self image and self-confidence had also improved. You can see a sample of the feedback we have received here..
